Can’t Catch a Break
Over the weekend my publisher, Champagne Book Group, announced that they were closing their doors for good due to mismanagement from the previous owner.
When they closed down the book rights reverted back to the writers, which is great. However, in the process of closing down and giving back rights, all the books Champagne Book Group has published have been delisted.
Which means the books, including Let Slip the Beasts, has been removed or is being removed from all online platforms.
Which again means the book I’ve spent the past two years promoting and hustling my ass off for is now only available in a handful of physical stores here in Norway and NOWHERE else.
So Much Time Wasted
So not only have I wasted 6 months waiting in the editing queue with the sequel to Let Slip the Beasts, now there’s a real chance Let Slip the Beasts might cease to exist althogether. Once those bookstores sell their copies of my book, they can’t order new ones.
I’ve pictured a million ways for this book to fail, but the publisher closing down and the book simply being removed was not one of them. Lesson learned, I guess.
I’m heart-broken, dissapointed, frustrated and pissed off, to be honest. I didn’t think my professional author career would end after two years, right as I was finally gaining some traction. It fucking sucks!
I don’t know what the future holds for me or my books. I will probably wallow in self-pity a little while longer. And then I’ll roll up my sleeves and get back to work.
There is much to be done.
Thanks to everyone who has come on this journey with me,who has bought the book, read it, left a review, talked about it – I appreciate all of you so much! Thanks to Champagne Book Group for taking a chance on me and getting Let Slip the Beasts into the world, even though it ended the way it did.
